The real challenge is finding alternative and more sustainable solutions in leather processing, while maintaining a seamless quality and performance. The Green Revolution imposes a gradual improvement of the production processes through the acquisition of new skills and know-how.
Today we are able to offer a wide range of high-performing leathers that have been produced through innovative recipes such as chrome-free or metal-free formulations and water-borne finishes which are VOC-free.

RENEWABLE ENERGY SOURCES AND WATER REUSE
Astico installed on its roof a 400,14 kWp photovoltaic system that occupies an area of approximately 3000 m² and which covers more than 50% of the energy needs of the company. Additionally, Astico processes its water effluents through a state-of-the-art wastewater treatment plant, which includes a chemical-physical processing and a biological treatment. Overall, the company is able to reutilize part of its wastewater in the production cycle. Astico’s objective is contributing as much as possible to the achievement of the UN 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

Scamosceria Astico is committed to continuously improve the environmental sustainability of its operations. Since 2018, Astico is a member of the Leather Working Group, that is an association that brings together some of the most famous fashion brands and firms operating within the leather supply chain. The group has the objective of raising the environmental performance standards of the industry and it does that by evaluating the social and environmental performance of tanneries all over the world through the application of a strict audit protocol. In the latest audit, Astico obtained a Silver Medal as an overall score and a Gold Medal in most key sections, such as “Environmental Management System”, “Energy Consumption”, “Waste Management” e “Effluent Treatment”. This certifies the company’s efforts towards a green production and an organized management of environmental, quality, ethical and safety policies.
